Easy Mind Waikato Ltd is a Ministry of Education licenced service - we offer a quality, homebased childcare service to children from birth to five years of age.
The following bullet-points are designed to give you a broad overview of how our service works and what we think most parents are likely to want to know.
Should you wish to investigate further, we can offer you more information and answer any questions you may have - simply call us on 07 858 3038.
- Your child is cared for in the home of a trained educator. Most of our educators are parents themselves, allowing them to instinctively respond to the needs of children in their care.
- All educators have a current First Aid Certificate and have undertaken (or are in the process of completing) a certified polytechnic course in Homebased Childcare.
- Educators are chosen for their warmth, compassion and love of children. They are dedicated to providing quality childcare in a safe and nurturing home environment.
- Easy Mind Waikato conducts careful and extensive interviews, reference checks, Police and CYFS checks to ensure an applicant's suitability as a homebased educator.. Anyone who will be in home (over 17 years of age) is also checked. An educator's home and premises is safety-checked both initially and on an ongoing basis.
- Fully qualified Early Childhood Teachers (known as Visiting Teachers) visit educators on a monthly basis to support and assist them with programmes, resources and any other issues they may have. They also carry out safety checks and address other "housekeeping" issues.
- Our educators, their children and care children benefit from our weekly play and music groups (and gymnastics fortnightly) and from the regular excursions and events we hold throughout the year. We strive to make the most of the resources of the community in which we live. Your child thus receives the dual benefit of one-one-one care and socialising with their peers in larger group settings.
- To ensure one-one-one care for your child, educators may only have four children under six in their care, including their own children. Only two of these children can be under two years of age. Children cared for consist of mixed age groups to encourage interaction between children of different ages.
- Our educators are not babysitters - they not only aim to provide the type of care a parent would provide in the home, they also create an educational programme using the Early Childhood Curriculum known as
Te Wháriki. Educators are supported in this by their Visiting Teacher.
- Each child receives their own learning journal/portfolio to record their personal care and educational journey. Parents are encouraged to contribute to this journal and it becomes a precious momento of their child's early days.
- Parents supply adequate healthy and nutritious food for their child during care hours. Easy Mind Waikato can generally help out with such things as push chairs, high chairs, portacots etc. Parents must provide car seats.
- We provide a wage and administration service so you don't have to worry about PAYE and the like - you simply pay us, and we take care of the rest. Visithere for information on our fees and WINZ subsidies.
